Monday 28th May
Monday is edit night but I am usually a week ahead so things have been a little more frantic than usual.
Fortunately it takes a lot less time to edit my videos since I bought the M50 and stopped using so much music.
2 hours and it’s done and it’s not a bad video even if I do say myself.
The ‘commission’ video has started very well; it’s on target to hit 1,000 views within the first 24 hours which is usually a good sign.
Even better Philip appears to be pleased with it and has chosen the ‘lone tree at Tewet Tarn’ as his favourite image.
I’m excited to get his print of to him and to here what he thinks of it.
I am starting to see a trend in my videos.
They seem to start well getting lots of views in the first 24 hours and then, nothing. It’s like all of a sudden the views stop.
I think the secret to success is cracking ‘suggested’ videos but it’s not entirely clear to me just how I can do that.
Thursday 1st June
For some time now I have been thinking about starting a podcast about landscape photography on YouTube.
Initially I thought it might be something that Julian and I could do together but with everything that he’s got on his plate he isn’t able to find the time.
So if I am going to do it I am going to have to go it alone. I think it would be good fun to make and that’s as good a reason as any to give it a go.
Not a great day.
There has been a problem with the timing belt on my car so it is off the road for at least a week and it’s going to cost at least £1,000 to get it sorted.
One thing that did put a smile on my face was a comment that I got on one of my Instagram photos from none other than Charlie Waite!
With my car out of action and Helen needing hers I have been stuck at home all day.
I tried to make the most of a bad situation by spending a bit of time creating a new intro for my videos but generally it was frustrating being stuck indoors.
The weather forecast for tomorrow is not good and with no video to post I am in danger of missing a week.
I managed to get out today to shoot a video about keeping it local.
Because I hadn’t had much time to prepare it did seem to take me much longer to produce than I would have liked.
It’s at times like these when I need dig deep and crack on. My determination not to quit will see me alright in the end – at least it bloody better had!
